April Newsletter
Greetings VII and VI Form Families,
Here we are, on the precipice of spring, and though it is a little chilly this week, we can see warmth and sun on the horizon!
The smiles and laughter of this fantastic community return after
a well-deserved break. As we enter the home stretch of the admissions process, I was pleased to see so many of you take advantage of the revisit days as you weigh this most important decision. The next major date in the admissions timeline is Wednesday, April 10 when you and your Senior finalize your decisions about where they will be next September.
As you all secure your plans for the next phase of your child’s educational journey, please note that this will be your final Secondary School Counseling Newsletter. Any other Senior-related tasks and items will arrive to you in other formats. If I need to contact you about a specific concern, I will do so directly.
VIth Form Parents will continue to receive Secondary School Counseling Newsletters on the first Friday of every month going forward.
The information below is vital for the success of your student’s final plans for the future.
Best,
Clayton
VIIth Form News - Important!
Please be attentive to the following items below. This is an important time.
An offer of admission is contingent upon the successful completion of the courses listed on your child’s Senior year transcript. Secondary Schools will require a copy of the final year transcript to ensure that the student graduated while maintaining a level of academic achievement in line with the entire academic year.
- We currently have students who are sitting on Waiting Lists for various schools and for various reasons. This is an effort by schools to hedge against their applicant pool.
-
If you and your child know where he or she will enroll for next year, and you have not done so, please inform the school that you will be accepting their offer. Additionally, email Julie Fredlund (jfred@3706a.com) with your decision so she knows where to send your child’s final Rumsey transcript.
- If you are declining offers of admission and / or financial aid, please let the schools know ASAP, also, as your notification can actually assist other Rumsey students and families who are awaiting news from the Waiting List. It also is simply good manners.
- If you indicated that you wished to remain on the Waitlist of one or more schools, and have decided to attend a school from which you received an offer of admission, please let those Waitlist schools that you no longer wish to remain on the Waitlist.
-
We are in contact with admissions offices and are working toward the best outcomes for all members of the Class of 2024. If, for whatever reason, you wish to develop a new list of schools to investigate, we will not really be able to do too much before the third week in April. Schools will await their responses (even post-April 10) from their initial offers before making a plan for a round two of admission.
-
Stay positive and patient, all. While this can be a stressful period, know that it all works out, even if not on our initial timeline.
- Stay in touch.
